Opera in the Park

Chelsea and I went to the eighth annual Opera in the Park this weekend. The Madison Symphony puts on a wonderful, free, performance. Almost as good as the sunset.


So Opera in the park has kindof a weird tradition. The second half is well after the sunset, and they sell glow sticks to the crowd to raise money for the symphony. The picture doesn't capture it too well, but imagine 8-10 thousand glowsticks moving in harmony with the conductor. As Chelsea put it, "Madison people are so weird." It was something I'll remember for a long time.

Wisconsin State Parks, Week 2

We traveled to Nelson-Dewey state park on the mighty Mississippi this weekend. We we're excited to go fishing in the canoe. The fishing was slow, until we realized... Chelsea brought a cursed banana along!

The campground was nice. This is shot is looking over the river towards Iowa.

We found a travel bug out geocaching. We'll drop it off next weekend.

We're still working on the couple photo shot thing (see the vulture in the background).

Wisconsin's State Parks, Week 1

We're touring a several of Wisconsin's state parks this summer. This is Natural Bridge state park, one of the oldest inhabited places in the state.

After Natural Bridge we traveled to Mirror Lake state. The lake wasn't very mirror like. Echo rock was pretty neat. They filmed scenes from "Public Enemies" there.

Tucson Twilight

I spent the week in Tucson at the Cryogenic Engineering Conference. The highlights are below.

This morning I went on a walk with Professor Pfotenhauer. The sunrise over the desert is wonderful.


The sunset after the rain last night. Yes, it really did look like this.

Back to Madison tomorrow morning.
